A FASHION designer is tasting the sweet smell of success as his scented candles are going on sale in Paris.

Elliot Frieze, from Libanus, near Brecon, has launched his spring/summer 2016 luxury candle range with each candle intended to reflect the scents of areas of outstanding beauty in Wales.

The Love, Lust, Platinum and Gold collection will be officially launched at the end of this month, in time for Valentine’s and Mother’s Day.

"The candles will be available in Paris and England as well" said Elliot who launched his first collection of scented candles before Christmas and which have been on sale across Wales.

The designer has moved into homeware to capitalise on the popularity of his clothing collections with music, television and fashion personalities.

"I’ve shown at London Fashion Week and have had a lot of high profile people such as Yasmin Le Bon and Amber Le Bon, Emelia Fox and Lily Cole wearing the brand," said Elliot who credits his success in the fashion world with opening doors to him in Paris.

"I’ve launched the homeware as a lot of my dresses retail for £700 or some of the couture pieces for £20,000. The homeware is something everyone can afford to buy into, the candles retail from £20."

Elliot moved back to the UK last year after living in Asia for four years where he was the head of the fashion department at a Chinese university and was then head hunted to head Italian fashion brand Isabel Garcia’s operations in Asia.

Former Brecon High School student Elliot, who was born in Cardiff and moved to Libanus with his family aged 11, said the journey from the Beacons to fashion boutiques in Paris shouldn’t be seen as an unlikely one.

"I attended Brecon High until I was 17 and went to university in London, Paris and Berlin.

"I don’t think it really matters where you come from or which school you went to as long as you work you can achieve your goals."
