Rhayader and District Male Voice Choir are celebrating a special anniversary with a concert this coming weekend.

The concert, celebrating the choir’s 65th anniversary, will take place on Sunday, June 19 at Rhayader Leisure Centre, North Street, LD1 5BU.

The event begins at 6pm, with tickets costing £10. Entrance is available by ticket or you can pay on the door.

The choir, who are very excited to be performing in the concert, have booked three exceptionally talented young Welsh performers to enhance the evening.

The performers include Jessamy Ashton - a wonderful soprano from Llanidloes, who appeared on S4C with Shan Cothi and Rhys Meirion. Jessamy is described as a ‘born performer’ and not to be missed on stage.

Two young singers, Sion Eilir Roberts and Ellis James, who are from slightly further north, will also perform both solos and duets.

Sion is from Denbighshire and has many agricultural connections - you may have seen him in recent times as auctioneer at Rhayader Livestock Market. Ellis, much like Sion, has been a regular attendee and winner of Eisteddfod over the years. A memorable piece for them was George Bizet’s ‘Au fond du temple saint’.

The choir, who are renowned for their rich harmonies, are proud to announce that the proceeds of the evening will be going towards extremely worthwhile causes in Hope House and MacMillan Nurses.
