A group of sheep were spotted around one Powys town after they escaped from their home farm.

Various residents in Llandrindod Wells saw the small flock of sheep wandering around the town yesterday morning.

Following their escape, the sheep were seen near Llandrindod Wells’ Magistrates Court, which is just off Tremont Park, and near Aldi supermarket on Station Crescent which is next to the A483.

One sighting of the four-legged escape artists was at Lant Avenue – one Facebook user shared a picture of seven sheep outside a block of bungalows at 7.22am.

The town resident posted on the Facebook group Llandrindod Solutions where she said: “Someone lost a few sheep? These are strolling around The Court and Lant Avenue this morning.”

Another sighting was under half an hour later around Llandrindod Wells lake near Princes Avenue which was also posted in the group.

Other residents tweeted to say they had been spotted near the Montpellier Hotel on Temple Street as well as near the train line at Temple Drive.

Dyfed-Powys Police’s Rural Crime Team tweeted that it was thanks to staff at Hay and Brecon Farmers shop for helping to round the sheep up so they could be collected by their owner.

The tweet said: “Thanks to staff at Hay and Brecon Farmers for capturing these sheep in town.

“They have now been collected by their owner. Escaped from their farm as the gate had been left open. If using rights of ways, always close the gates!”
