AN ex-soldier from Three Cocks is attempting to break a world record this summer in aid of Heal The Wounds Charity.

Wesley Gould, who is now a driver, said: "I’m very close with the charity director because he served in the same regiment that I served with.

We got talking recently and he told me about the charity.

I had been in the gym quite a lot and thought I would put my training to good use."

The charity is run by former medics of the Royal Regiment of Wales.

It aims to help soldiers who struggle to re-adjust to life outside of the army by offering help and support to those battling with conditions including Post Traumatic Stress.

His wife Trudy said: "Wesley has been in the thick of it in Afghanistan and so this cause is close to his heart."

Wesley has completed several practice pulls using various vehicles near his home in Three Cocks.

On the day of the event Welsey will be pulling a Land Rover Defender which has been kindly donated to his cause by Elwyn Jones builders of Talgarth.

Wesley said that "Elwyn has gone above and beyond the call of duty".

This event is due to take place on Saturday, May 29 at Llandow race track, Cowbridge.

Wesley would like to spread the word as much as possible between now and May 28 in order to raise as much money as possible.

Around £900 has so far been raised online and any donations between now and then would be greatly appreciated.
