The special guest speaker at the upcoming NFU Cymru Brecon & Radnor County Conference has been announced.
Acclaimed Farmers Weekly Deputy Editor Abi Kay will be the guest speaker for the event, which takes place on Wednesday, January 24.
The meeting will take place at the International Pavilion on the Royal Welsh Showground, Llanelwedd.
Beef rolls will be served from 7pm and the meeting will get underway at 7:30pm.
A graduate of the University of Leeds and King’s College London, Ms Kay was a Parliamentary Assistant in the House of Commons early in her career and also worked as a Government and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser for the NFU. In 2016 she moved to the Farmers Guardian, where she was Chief Reporter and latterly Head of News. In January 2023 she moved to Farmers Weekly to become Deputy Editor and shortly after her exposé on mass food fraud transcended agriculture and attracted national mainstream media attention.
Ms Kay is also a Director of Oxford Farming Conference.
NFU Cymru Brecon & Radnor County Chair Sharon Hammond said: “I am absolutely delighted that we have been able to secure a speaker of Abi Kay’s calibre for this year’s county conference. Abi’s passion and determination has seen her conduct some incredibly important investigative journalism and she has also taken a keen interest in farming in Wales and Welsh agri-politics over the years, writing many articles and opinion pieces on matters on this side of the border.
“This is an event not to be missed! I encourage members to bring along friends, family and neighbours to hear Abi, as well as to learn more about NFU Cymru’s lobbying work.”
