Members of Pontfaen YFC enjoyed an outstanding run of results at the Wales YFC finals, taking part in the Speaking Day Festival at the Royal Welsh Showground.
The club won the Show Choir competition and will now represent Wales at the National Finals on Saturday, 4 July. Their programme included songs: Ordinary by Alex Warren, Calon, and The Rose.
They also placed 2nd in the Senior Mace Debating competition, securing another qualification for the National Final. Sian Healey represented the club alongside county team members Sam Powell, Elin Havard, Nia Havard and Libby Davies.
Alice Hyde competed in the Under-16 Public Speaking competition with Evie and Caitlyn from Sennybridge. As the speaker, Alice delivered a talk on the dangers on farms and the team achieved 3rd place.

At the weekend, members travelled to the Wales Field Day at Goldsland Farm, Wenvoe, Cardiff, to compete in the Cube and Stockjudging competitions. The Cube team gained 2nd place—Sian Healey, Chloe Williams, Henry Davies, Darren Allsop and Darcey Boulton—and will compete in the National Final. Their cube showcased five crafts on the theme “My Favourite Place”, depicting “The Garden”.


Connie Hyde was a member of the Junior Stockjudging Team, which gained 2nd place.
