Llanwrtyd Show was held recently on a glorious, sun-filled day, drawing a large crowd from across the local area.

The committee expressed their thanks to everyone who attended for helping to make the event such a success.

The sheep section attracted a particularly strong entry, showcasing the best of local stock. Beulah Speckled sheep were claimed by the Thomas family of Maesllech, while Ollie James, Penrhiwgoch, took the top spot for Continental sheep. The White Face Welsh prize went to the Jones family of Gelli, and Gwynfor Phillips was awarded Best Theave Lamb. Coloured sheep were won by the Jones family of Erwbeili, with Hardy Sheep again going to the Thomas family, Maesllech. Freddie Davies of Llwyncadwgan triumphed in the AOB category, and the Jones family of Gelli added Welsh Mules to their list of successes. The domestic tent proved equally impressive, with record numbers of entries across all sections. Eirwen Davies was the overall winner in photography and painting, George Davies triumphed in rural crafts, and Elena Jones secured the cookery prize.

The horse show returned to its traditional format and was well supported by local riders and pony clubs. Julie Lewis was named Champion in Hand, with Ellie Cook as Reserve Champion. The Ridden Champion was Franky Phillips, while Daisy Davies was Reserve Champion. Daisy Davies went on to be named Overall Supreme Champion, with Franky Phillips taking Reserve Supreme Champion.

The dog show also attracted entries from across the region, featuring a wide range of breeds. Rhian Gibson won the Champion Pedigree class, David Warner won Champion Terrier, Geoff Wilson took Champion Lurcher, and Sam Prynne was both Champion Whippet and Supreme Champion.

The show could not have happened without the efforts of the many volunteers who give up their time to make it run smoothly. The committee extended its thanks to all who contributed and invited suggestions from the public for the 2026 show.

On the Sunday afternoon following the show, the committee hosted a Strawberry Tea, which proved a popular and enjoyable event. Held in aid of the Breconshire Friends of Prostate Cymru, the afternoon raised £532 through donations and raffle ticket sales. Mr Gethin Havard spoke movingly of his own experience with prostate cancer, emphasising the importance of awareness and urging anyone with concerns to seek medical advice promptly.
