Firefighters tackle grass fires

FIREFIGHTERS are battling grass fires near Rhayader, Llandovery and Brecon.

Crews from Rhayader, Llandrindod Wells, Llanwrtyd and Llanidloes are tackling a fire across 30 hectares of hillside at Llanwrthwl.

The Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue thanked the public, via its Twitter account, for reporting the fire, saying it was "aware" of the grass fire.

Brecon crews have used beaters and other equipment to try and extinguish a fire burning through six hectares of bracken and gorse.

A crew from Llandovery has also been attending a blaze across 10 hectares of grassland near the town.
