A FURTHER five deaths of people who’d tested positive for coronavirus have been reported in Wales.

Health chiefs also said Wales has seen its biggest increase in confirmed cases of coronavirus with 150 new positive tests confirmed.

The Welsh total now stands at 628 but Public Health Wales has warned the true number is likely to be much higher as only a small number of people are being tested.

In Powys three new cases have been confirmed in bringing the health board total to 14.

Dr Robin Howe, Incident Director for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said: “Five further deaths have been reported to us of people who had tested positive for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), taking the number of deaths in Wales to 22.

“We offer our condolences to the family and friends affected, and we ask those reporting on the situation to respect patient confidentiality.”

People have been reminded they must follow the new restrictions announced by the UK Government which say you must stay at home other than to go shopping for essential items, to walk or exercise once a day alone or only with members of your household. People can also leave home for any medical need, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person, or to travel to work if they cannot do so from home.
