THIS giant hole has appeared in a bridge in the Brecon Beacons.

It was spotted by members of the Brecon Mountain Rescue team earlier today who have warned people exploring the mountains, which have had a dusting of snow this morning, to watch out.

The bridge collapse has left the popular footpath and biking route impassable.

The rescue team said: “Anyone out #walking or on their #mountainbike in the Sarn Helen / Forest Lodge area please take care around bridge collapse at bottom of Cwm Du”.

The bridge, which crosses a stream at the bottom of Cwm Du, near Forest Lodge has a large chunk of ground missing and although the cause remains unknown, area warden for Brecon Beacons National Park, Jon Pimm, said the bridge is damaged due to extreme weather and that the path is now closed.

He said: “Another bridge damaged by #StormDennis meaning that this section of Sarn Helen is closed”.
