TWO gypsy families who have turned down plots at a new dedicated site in Brecon have seen their plans for their own private site rejected.

Donna Lewis and her sister Wendy Smith had asked Powys County Council for planning permission for a site near the village of Llanddew, two miles outside of Brecon.

But the council's planning committee said it was against the authorities planning policies and rejected the application.

The committee heard both women have are unwilling to take allocated spaces at the £2 million King's Meadow gypsy and traveller site being developed by the council on the edge of Brecon and due to open shortly.
