The theme for Fairtrade Fortnight this year, which runs until March 13, has been Fairtrade breakfasts.
Big Breakfast Events have happened all around the country and in Hay-on-Wye Fairtrade Hay organised Fairtrade breakfasts at The Old Electric Shop.
Customers purchased Fairtrade banana pancakes and then received free cups of Fairtrade tea and coffee.
"The focus on breakfast is to remind us what we eat and drink to start the day often comes from parts of the world where the farmers may not be able to afford breakfast. This is why Fairtrade is important, to ensure a fair price and fair conditions," said Jo Eliot, from Fairtrade Hay.
Hannah Burson, from The Old Electric Shop said: "We were delighted to help support and promote Fairtrade."
Fairtrade Hay also visited Hay primary school to put on a Fairtrade breakfast at the breakfast club, with Fairtrade bananas, honey and hot chocolate served with the normal cereal and toast. The breakfast was followed by a special assembly. Thanks go to Hay’s Co-operative store for supplying the bananas and honey.
