Today is Worldwide Stop Pressure Ulcer Day aimed at raising awareness of this life-threatening condition that is virtually preventable. Pressure Ulcers can have a negative impact on a person’s quality of life and cost the NHS billions each year in care costs.
Ty Mawr Nursing Home in Abercrave hosted an educational event with the aim of bringing Pressure Ulcers to a wider audience, not just for the staff but people from the community. The event was supported by Medicare Plus and Cymru Healthcare.
Espie Yoro Clinical Lead Nurse of Ty Mawr said: “We are delighted to be a part of this year’s Worldwide STOP Pressure Ulcer awareness campaign.
Matron Julie Hurst, Vaughan Davies RI and I are very thankful to all the staff for their hard work for maintaining Ty Mawr a pressure ulcer free care environment and to those who joined us in the event”
Espie is also a member of the South Powys Care Homes Tissue Viavility Link Nurse Group led by Delia Keen – Tissue Viability Clinical Nurse Specialist and Lymphoedema Therapist Powys.
