Light Up Llanwrtyd, a light trail in Llanwrtyd Wells organised by Friends of the school - Ysgol Dolafon in Llanwrtyd Wells took place on Saturday, 20 December.

The first event of its kind in the town was designed to bring the community together through spreading Christmas cheer. In its first year, they had 31 sign ups, with the group following the trail and seeing the festive lights displayed in the town.

After the community completed the trail everyone headed back to the school for hot chocolate and mince pies and voted for their favourite display. Following the count, Llanwrtyd Fire Brigade won first place and Oakfield House won 2nd and donated £500 to friends of the school.

Co- Chair for Friends of the school, Ashleigh Davies and Elena Jones took over earlier this year.

“We were determined to bring a community feel back to Llanwrtyd for all,” said Ashleigh. “Along with other fundraisers this year, we decided that this year we would create a light trail.

“To bring a sense of festive community to llanwrtyd and wow did we get just that, last night we held the first ever ‘Light up Llanwrtyd 2025’ with a fantastic 31 sign ups.”

Mayor Martin Pigott joined in with the trail.

The Friends of the school committee have worked tirelessly throughout the year to bring the community together, including a community fete held in August.
