Card shop Clintons will close its doors in Brecon this Saturday, February 22.

The branch, on High Street, Brecon sells cards, gifts and stationery items and has announced its closure due to leasing costs.

A representative for Clintons said: “Following the sale of the business to Esquire Retail Limited in December 2019, we are reviewing the leases in our store portfolio. We can confirm that the Brecon store based on 8 High Street will be closing on Saturday February 22.

In this case, the terms of the lease renewal for our Brecon store were cost prohibitive and we have been forced to take the difficult decision to close the store”.

Other stores will operate as usual and work is being done to help save the jobs for those employed at the Brecon branch, the representative said.

“Our staff have been informed and we will make every effort to redeploy staff members wherever possible and it is business as usual for our additional stores around the country.”

A number of items in the store have been reduced to as little as £1 and these bargains are available until their last day of trading, which is Saturday February 22.
