Newtown-based company Hilltop, makers of honey, have launched their third annual £10,000 community fund.

For a third year, Hilltop is launching its community fund, which serves as a shared fund for local initiatives and projects that aim to improve the social and environmental landscape of Newtown and the surrounding areas.

Since launching in 2011, Hilltop has been on a mission not just to make award-winning honey but to do it sustainably and safeguard the future and development of the business. The funding forms part of the Hilltop sustainability strategy to do more for a sustainable future not just for their operations, suppliers, and workforce but for their local community too.

Scott Davies, Hilltop Managing Director, said: ‘’The Hilltop Community Fund has been created to give back to the community in which Hilltop has received so much support. I’m a Newtown boy through and through and I’m thrilled that I can give something back to my local community and one that has given so much support to me over the years. The funding proceeds not only enhance the outstanding work already being done in our local community but shine a light on our community organisations and members of our community that need to be acknowledged.’’

Hilltop is encouraging local community groups, charities, not-for-profit community groups, councils, schools, sporting facilities and other statutory bodies to bid for up to £10,000 to improve local community facilities. Applications for the fund must closely align with Hilltop’s sustainable goals; positive change, environmental impact, supporting health and wellbeing and investing in culture as a driver for change.

Projects and community groups that live within 15 miles of Newtown, Powys can apply and are eligible for the grant. Entries open from 01/04/24 and close 30/04/24. Initiatives and projects can apply for a share of £10,000 in funding to cover the costs of resources that are required for a specific project. Successful applicants will be contacted by May.
