ABEREDW YFC were the hosts for Radnor YFC’s 70th Annual Rally and Dance held at Penmaenau Farm, Llanelwedd, with Hay and Brecon Farmers once again the sponsors.

Glorious sunshine set the scene for a packed day of competitions and fun for the 550 members of Radnor YFC.

All 13 clubs competed in over 40 competitions from cookery, flower arranging, recycled band, stockjudging, woodwork, shearing to Top of The Pops.

Results soon began to roll in. Knighton YFC won the woodwork competition, Owen Davies from Presteigne, won Senior Shearing, Shaun Fairclough of Howey, Intermediate Shearing, Philip Price, Radnor Valley, Junior Shearing. The scrapbook competition was won by Sarah Bevan of Teme Valley YFC and the Yearbook cover was won by Rhian Hammond, Howey YFC.

In the Stockjudging competitions,the pre rally trophy was won by Llanbadarn Fynydd YFC, the Sarah Froggatt trophy was won by Laura Watson, Llanbadarn Fynydd and the Jonathan Ruell cup was won by Reuben Powell of Aberedw YFC.

The climax to the day was the overall results with Teme Valley YFC coming third, Aberedw YFC second and the overall winners were Howey YFC – one of the smallest clubs in the county. Chairman Lloyd Hammond was delighted and said that “great teamwork” had helped lead Howey YFC to overall success.
