KINGTON resident Allan Lloyd has visited his 75th waterfall in Wales as part of an attempt to raise funds for the St Michael’s Hospice.
He aims to visit 100 Welsh Waterfalls and reached the the three quarter mark in the area to the west of Talybont-on-Usk Reservoir in the Brecon Beacons National Park.
In late January Allan walked some four miles from Blaen y Glyn Isaf, following the waterfalls and cascades along the River Caerfanell, eventually crossing to the Nant Bwrefwr valley below the impressive Craig y Fan Ddu which at the time was beautifully snow clad.
Although the most recent waterfall walk proved deserted, except for his walking companion, Honour Cartwright who had the idea to visit 100 waterfalls, Allan wishes to invite fellow walkers to approach him on his future waterfall journeys and make themselves known.
He will next be visiting waterfalls in the areas of Barmouth in Gwynedd and Devil’s Bridge in Ceredigion.
When Allan’s 100 Welsh Waterfall Challenge has been realised, he hopes that promises of donations to Herefordshire’s hospice will be forthcoming.
Allan considers that the equivalent of £50 for each waterfall visited could be an eventual and realistic figure to be achieved. The amount raised will go towards extending the hospice outreach programme and eventually making this service also available in Breconshire and Radnorshire.
