BRECON was the smallest town in the UK taking part in this year's Oxjam Takeover and remarkably, last weekend's live music event with 50 bands in five Brecon venues raised more cash than its big city cousin Cardiff.

Oxjam Brecon Takeover Manager Stewart Webb tells The Brecon & Radnor Express: "Oxjam Brecon 2011 started in April with one volunteer. By June there were five of us. It culminated today in well over 200 people giving their time for free, not only to put on an amazing event but to raise money for Oxfam GB. Our final total will be well over £7,000. And this money will save lives."
