A LIMOUSIN cross steer from Elfed Williams and family, Sennybridge, took the commercial beef championship and then the overall cattle championship at Sennybridge Show on Saturday (September 2).
The steer, which was brought out by Leominster, Herefordshire-based freelance showman Neil Lloyd, was bred by Colin Phillips, Sarnesfield, and was purchased at the Brecon Show Potential Calf Sale. He has already been shown successfully, taking reserve champion at Cilycwm Show and will now rest before heading on the winter commercial circuit where he will then be put forward at Countryside Live in Harrogate, Borderway Agri-Expo, Carlisle, The English Winter Fair at Stafford and will finish at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair at Builth. Standing reserve to him at Sennybridge under commercial judge Gilbert Brooke, Alfrick, Worcestershire, was a home-bred Limousin steer from Phil Price, Hay on Wye. Shown on the day with help from Phil’s daughter Maisie, this steer has previously been reserve champion at Brecon Show and will also head off on the winter circuit.
