Brecon and Radnorshire’s MS James Evans has thanked two groups in Breconshire and Radnorshire for their efforts to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mr Evans and MP Fay Jones both attended two Macmillan Coffee ‘Mornings’.

One was hosted by residents of Radnor Valley as well as members of Radnor Valley Primary School - pictured above left - on Saturday morning , September 25 and the second hosted by Beulah Young Farmers Club - pictured above right - on Sunday afternoon, September 26 which as also attended by the High Sheriff of Powys Peter R James.

Both of the Conservative politicians took to social media to share their appreciation of the groups which were looking to raise as much money as possible to help in the fight against cancer.

Mr Evans said: “It was fantastic to visit two amazing groups of people over the weekend who were fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support by holding a coffee morning in their communities.

Sadly, cancer is a disease that will affect each one of us in one shape or another throughout our lives and to see local people selflessly rallying to fundraise for Macmillan is heart-warming.

Ensuring those who suffer from the effects of cancer and their loved ones have the right level of support is vital and organisations such as Macmillan play a vital role in supporting those in need.”

Macmillan Cancer Support is a UK-wide charity which offers support to those living with different types of cancer - offering financial, emotional and physical support from the moment of diagnosis.

The charity hosts various fundraisers every year, but one of its most famous is the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning which, while technically marked as Friday, September 24, can be hosted at any time of year.

Every ear, groups around the UK host their own coffee mornings to help out - so far, £624,053 has been raised this year alone which is enough to fund 11 Macmillan nurses for a year.
