Yesterday (Thursday, September 7), James Evans MS, member of the Welsh Parliament for Brecon & Radnorshire and the group leader of the Christian Democrat & Flemish Party (CD&V), Peter Van Rompuy, met to discuss the upcoming European Elections and other areas of shared interests.

Meeting in Brussels, they exchanged a number of ideas on addressing shared challenges surrounding agricultural policy and youth mobility.

Speaking on the meeting, James said: “It was a pleasure to meet Mr Van Rompuy today, discussing a number of increasingly important topics.

"What was very clear to me during our meeting today, was our shared values and commitment to standing up for agricultural and farming communities, to support working families and to provide a brighter future for our young people.

"Our vision of improving the lives of our citizens by electing conservative governments is what brought us together today and I’m pleased that we have been able to hold meaningful dialogue to further several policy areas.”

James went on to say: “In returning to the Senedd, I hope to demonstrate the potential for further relationship building with other sister party’s and the role the Welsh Conservatives can play in being a proactive partner.

"Yesterday, the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confirmed the UK would rejoin Horizon, a monumental millstone for Universities here in the Wales and a testament to the Windsor Framework and the new relationship we have with the EU."

James Evans MS aims to continue to engage with the Christian Democrat & Flemish Party and wishes them the best of luck in their 2024 elections.

A bottle of Penderyn Whiskey was gifted to the CD&V group, a gesture of good will.
