THE second annual Dragon Festival was held in Rhayader this week. On Saturday evening nearly 150 people took part in a lantern parade through the main streets.

Starting at CARAD they processed with hand made lanterns and banners flying to the far end of West Street where presents were given out to the children participating.

The parade was led by the Dragon and the Dragon Drummers with the Dragon Queen Claire Steele sitting high on the Dragon.

The coronation of the dragon, which has now been named “Belrenin”, was performed by Richard Jones before the parade left CARAD.

The event which continues this week has a number of activities for all ages.
