A LAST call for organisations interested in becoming partners at Brecon’s y Gaer centre has been issued by Powys council.
The local authority revealed last year it would consider expressions of interests from businesses and organisations interested in occupying part of the £14million centre, which includes the historic grade II star listed Brecknock Museum and a purpose built library adjacent to it, after it opened in December.
The council said it could consider offers from organisations such as play groups and faith groups to medical services.
Discussions are already taking place with Brecon Beacons College, part of the NPTC Group of Colleges, but the council is seeking expressions of interest from any organisation who may want to become a partner and share some of the new modern space within the facility.
There had been public criticism in July last year when the talks with the college were announced but the council said it needed a partner to maximise y Gaer’s opening hours.
At present the centre including the museum, which is free to enter to all members of the public, is closed on Monday and Wednesdays and there is no Sunday opening. Y Gaer is open from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and until 6.30pm every Tuesday. All interest and enquires should be sent to [email protected] by Friday, January 31.
