I am sure I am not the only reader bewildered by the incessant coning off of lanes on the Brecon bypass.
I have driven on the bypass on most days for the last seven years and there has scarcely been a day when significant sections of the road have not been coned off.
Invariably there seems to be no evidence of any work going on, and yet someone has deemed it necessary to cone off large sections of the road.
This is all rather baffling and the cost of this must be considerable.
If Powys County Council* are looking to save money can I suggest they start by looking into this apparent waste of money.

*Editor’s note: Powys County Council is not the responsible highway authority for the Brecon bypass, as it is the A40 and falls under the jurisdiction of the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency, which manages the strategic road network on behalf of the Welsh Government. The B&R has contacted the Trunk Road Agency for a statement regarding the concerns raised in this letter.
