THIS Saturday’s bonfire extravaganza at Clyro Court will be the last one staged by the Black Mountain Lions.
The gates will open at 5.30pm and the bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm with the fireworks beginning at 7pm.
However Lions members have said the effort of creating the display is taking its toll and this year will be their final display after 28 years. This year the bonfire will take the form of a mock castle.
Cheryl Hyde, one of the Lions organisers, said: “We are sad to announce that this will be our last firework event.
“Unfortunately those members that have been collecting the ingredients for the bonfire, building the bonfire, setting up the fireworks and lighting them, building the stalls, installing lighting and catering, are all feeling the strain.
“As the last one, this year’s display is going to go off with a spectacular bang.”
This year’s display includes judging of the schools’ Guy competition and a Lions draw.
Entry costs £4 per adult and £1 per child. If any group is interested in taking over they should contact Cheryl at [email protected] or call her on 0741 339 9950.
