DESPITE the rain appearing during the afternoon, the 85th Llanddewi Show was once again a great crowd pleaser. The show was opened by the presidents Dennis and Joan Davies following an introduction by the chairman Dot Bufton. The event was held at Llanddewi Parish Hall and Llanddewi Ddole by kind permission of the Pugh family. The new Working Hunter Pony competition proved to be very popular, and the horse and sheep sections of the show reported good entries in all classes. The children’s fancy dress competition attracted many entrants.
The produce, horticulture, craft sections together with floral displays and even a men only cookery competition were all staged in the Parish Hall where there were good entries, particularly the very popular children’s and cookery classes. Presidents Dennis and Joan Davies selected a beautiful painting by Phillip Marton as the recipient of the prestigious annual President’s Cup.
During the afternoon there was a fine display of vintage tractors, cars and tools. Other competitions included a dog show as well as a horse and pony show plus children’s athletic and football competitions.
The committee were led by joint chairpersons Dot Bufton and Keith Williams together with committee members and a large number of people from the local community all of whom made the event possible.
At the prize giving, show and sports chairman Dot Bufton thanked everyone for their continued support and the evening concluded with a barbeque and fun time. The evening concluded with entertainment which was provided by Neil Rees.
