LAST weekend Llanafan Fawr based rider, Rachael Forkings rounded off a month of major shows with another clean sweep at Machen.

Rachael, riding her 17 year old horse Parry’s Lad (Tomo), competed in the side saddle competitions and took first place in both the Equitation and Concourse D’Elegance as well as first for best turned out. Rachael has now won all three classes for three years in a row, the first rider to achieve this.

Earlier in June Rachael competed at Aberystwyth County Show where she again took first place in both the Equitation and Concourse D’Elegance.

This was followed a week later at the Royal Three Counties Show at Malvern where Rachael was placed fifth in the Equitation before winning the coveted Classical Ladies Class.

Rachael will now turn her attention to preparing for this year’s Royal Welsh show in a couple of weeks’ time where she will hope to continue her good form.

In August she will also be competing at the National Side Saddle Show held at Addington Manor in Buckinghamshire.
