A WARNING over counterfeit £20 notes circulating in the Builth Wells area has been issued as the Royal Welsh Show opens.
Around 250,000 people are expected to attend the showground in nearby Llanelwedd with Europe’s largest agricultural event opening today and closing on Thursday.
But the official in charge of trade stands for organisers the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society has told those trading in the grounds to beware of counterfeit currency.
An email sent to exhibitors warned: "Just a brief note to make you aware that we have had intel to suggest that there are a large number of fake £20 notes already being passed in the Builth area and may likely be offered on the Showground this coming week."
