A man had to be airlifted to hospital after he fell off a quad bike on a hill near Talybont-on-Usk.
Mountain rescue teams were called to assist the ambulance service in rescuing the man came off the quad bike on the hill above Aber Village at 9.30am yesterday (Monday).
The man, thought to be in his 50s and from the West Midlands area, injured his shoulder as he came off the quad bike.
Mark Jones, deputy leader of the voluntary Brecon Mountain Rescue Team said: “We won’t think he was traveling at high speed, but when he came off he sustained a shoulder injury.
“We located him and then we transferred him to the helicopter which wasn’t far away bit the team still needed to carry him to it.
“Where he was, the helicopter wasn’t able to land.”
Western Beacons MRT and Longtown MRT assisted Brecon MRT with the rescue following a request from Dyfed-Powys Police.
The man was treated on the scene by paramedics and a mountain rescue doctor before the Maritime and Coastguard Agency rescue helicopter, which is from St Athan, took him to Nevill Hall hospital in Abergavenny.
Mr Jones said: “I can’t answer why he was on the field, but we wish him a speedy recovery.”
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said: "We were made aware of this incident and officers are making enquiries to establish the reason for the quad bike being ridden in this area."
