What is the major issue facing the country (UK)? The ideological imposition of austerity, which means that all the important issues facing us, such as building a sustainable future in an environment that engenders health and contentment are becoming increasingly unachievable.

And locally? As above. Illustrated by school closures, degeneration of town centres and continuing depreciation of health services – and all this in a growth economy?

Which single issue could you improve if elected? In a country blessed with the wherewithal to generate renewable energy we do not do nearly enough of it for ourselves. I would work to change that.

What is your proudest career/public achievement? Having the opportunity to stand as parliamentary candidate for the Green Party.

Name a current UK political figure, from a party other than your own, who you admire and why: Dennis Skinner (Labour); For his independence of mind, his longevity and his ability to stick to his principles even when his party cannot.

In the event of no party winning an overall majority, formal coalition or confidence and supply? It would be difficult for the Green Party to form a formal coalition with parties that continue to promote and facilitate the globalisation of the economy fuelling environmental degradation and increasing poverty. Confidence and supply at most.

What is the major issue facing the country (UK)? The economy and sticking to our long term economic plan.

And locally? School reorganisation!

Which single issue could you improve if elected? So many to choose from – Investment into Mid Wales.

What is your proudest career/public achievement? Taking on the role of Assistant Honorary Show Director at the Royal Welsh Show.

Name a current UK political figure, from a party other than your own, who you admire and why: Dafydd Elis Thomas (Plaid Cymru) - I admire his ability to remain dignified whilst telling his party leadership that they are going in the wrong direction.

In the event of no party winning an overall majority, formal coalition or confidence and supply? I am working to achieve a majority Conservative Government. Failing that any coalition would have to be based upon the other Party's willingness to work towards the Conservative vision of the future for the UK.

What is the major issue facing the country (UK)? Inequality. We have to do something about the widening gap between rich and poor.

And locally? Inequality, access to services, the rural economy.

Which single issue could you improve if elected? Living standards: doing something about our low wage economy and dealing with rip off zero hour contracts.

What is your proudest career/public achievement? Winning a living wage for council staff. That's a huge step forward for Powys.

Name a current UK political figure, from a party other than your own, who you admire and why: I think that Plaid's Jocelyn Davies AM was a decent housing minster in the One Wales government and I take my hat off to her for the way in which she has fought against the Bedroom Tax.

In the event of no party winning an overall majority, formal coalition or confidence and supply? Confidence and supply.

What book are you currently reading: 'When Was Wales?' by Gwyn Alf Williams

Favourite film: 'Matewan', an excellent film about the struggles on the West Virginia coalfields in 1920s America

What is the major issue facing the country (UK)? The biggest issue facing us is that the media and big parties have bought into the austerity hoax. It has been proven time and again that austerity measures make a recession worse and only benefit the already-wealthy.

And locally? We are starting to see the impacts of austerity being fed down to us from London via Cardiff - local public services, including high schools, are at breaking point.

Which single issue could you improve if elected? Wales is unfairly treated in comparison with Scotland. As a Plaid Cymru MP in a hung parliament I would be able to secure funding parity with Scotland whereas the other parties are happy to see Scotland do better out of the union.

What is your proudest career/public achievement? Seeing the impact of my work on the lives of local young people.

Name a current UK political figure, from a party other than your own, who you admire and why: Dennis Skinner (Labour) - I respect a politician who is not afraid to stand up for his beliefs and vote against his own party when they have gone along with the vicious austerity policies of the coalition.

In the event of no party winning an overall majority, formal coalition or confidence and supply? Confidence and Supply. In this way we will be able to secure the very best deal for people in Wales and end austerity without being forced to compromise on other issues.

Desert Island Disc: Anything by AC/DC

What book are you currently reading: 'The Man who invented the 20th Century' - a biography of the genius Nikola Tesla

Favourite film: 'The Shawshank Redemption'

What is the major issue facing the country (UK)? Membership of the EU and all of the legal, financial and logistical baggage that it shackles everyone in the UK with. Forcing us to obey their laws above those of our Sovereign and to pay them for making us do it. Ridiculous.

And locally? There are many, and they're all very serious. If I were forced to pick only one, it would be the NHS, which is dangerously underfunded here.

Which single issue could you improve if elected? Increase Funding for B&R by fighting the Welsh Assembly (instead of surrendering as the LibDems did) and forcing local government into spending accountability as currently they are just wasting our money.

What is your proudest career/public achievement? Probably publishing my book, but winning a prestigious technology award last month came close.

Name a current UK political figure, from a party other than your own, who you admire and why: Jacob Rees-Mogg, the Conservative. Although he looks and sounds a bit too posh, once you get past that and listen to what he's saying you find he talks a HUGE deal of common sense, and is not afraid to speak his mind. He should be leading their Party.

In the event of no party winning an overall majority, formal coalition or confidence and supply? My first and only concern would be to make whatever is the best decision that benefits the people of Brecon and Radnor. No other choice comes close.

Desert Island Disc: 'Heard it Through the Grapevine', Marvin Gaye

What book are you currently reading: 'On the Black Hill', Bruce Chatwin

Favourite film: 'Sting'

What is the major issue facing the country (UK)? And locally? I think that the Health Service is the number one issue facing us both at a national and local level. We are going to have to get to grips with how we deliver services to an ageing population, and how we enable as many appropriate services as possible to be delivered locally in rural areas like ours.

Which single issue could you improve if elected? The health service, I want to work on how we make sure that the health service adapts to the changing needs of the people it serves, and that's why I'm delighted that the Liberal Democrats are the only party who have committed to funding the extra £8billion per year that the NHS says it needs going forward.

What is your proudest career/public achievement? Representing the constituency I was born in and grew up in, in Westminster.

Name a current UK political figure, from a party other than your own, who you admire and why: William Hague for his knowledge of foreign affairs

In the event of no party winning an overall majority, formal coalition or confidence and supply? It depends on the parties involved and their number of MPs, its up to the people to decide what the make of Parliament looks like and then it's up to politicians to work together to form a government.
