The Met Office have issued an Amber weather warning for extreme heat for the next four days, from today until Sunday.

Temperatures could reach as high as 30 degrees celsius on Thursday 11 August in Powys, and the Met Office has warned that adverse health effects are likely to be experienced by those vulnerable to extreme heat.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are expected to reach temperatures of 29 degrees celsius.

At night, temperatures will drop to around 18 degrees celsius at the lowest, and will increase substantially throughout the day.

The Met Office warns that many people will experience health effects due to the heat, including dehydration, sunburn, exhaustion, and other health effects.

More people are likely to visit coastal areas, lakes, rivers and other beauty spots leading to an increased risk of water safety and fire-related incidents.

UV index will be at around 6 or 7 at about 12pm until 1pm each day from Thursday to Sunday, meaning there is a high risk of harm from unprotected sun exposure for the average adult.

It is likely to be a little more humid over the weekend, with further hot sunshine, but also the potential for a few thundery showers by Sunday.
