BRECON and Radnorshire MP Chris Davies met Men Behaving Badly and Doc Martin star Martin Clunes at the launch of the British Horse Society’s ‘Dead? Or Dead Slow?’ campaign at Westminster recently.

The campaign makes drivers aware of what they should do when they encounter horses on the road.

Between March 2017 and March of this year more than 400 incidents were reported to the society, while well over a quarter of riders reported that they had been subject to road rage or abuse.

The campaign is aimed at increasing road safety for both by providing education on how to deal with situations where motorists and riders on horseback encounter each other.

Tory MP Chris Davies said: “I was delighted to join Martin Clunes at the launch of the British Horse Society Dead, or Dead Slow Campaign in the Houses of Parliament.

Martin is president of the British Horse Society and we are both keen to see the number of horse/vehicle accidents reduced on our roads.

As someone who has always been involved in countryside pursuits including riding, I am keen to ensure that our roads become safer for everyone, including those on horseback.

“This is a much needed campaign as many are unaware of the dangers riders face on British roads.”
