Neil and Christine Hamilton have put on silly woollies to support Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day.

The AM for Mid & West Wales and leader of UKIP Wales and his wife are calling on everyone to take part in the national event being held today, Friday December 15, to raise money for the charity.

Christmas Jumper Day is back for the sixth year running and over five million people across the UK are expected to take part to help raise money for vulnerable children around the world.

Taking part is simple by signing up at christmasjumperday.org, sticking on a seasonal sweater and donating £2.

Neil Hamilton said:“Wearing a silly jumper at Christmas is all part of the festive fun and this campaign hopes to raise awareness and funds for the wonderful work done by Save the Children to help vulnerable children in Wales and across the world.

“Many school and workplaces have already signed up to have their photos taken in festive jumpers on Friday 15th and I hope even more will join in the fun for a serious and very good cause.

“I am happy to support this annual event and urge everyone to sign up and take part.”

All money raised through the wacky woolly-wearing stunt could help give a child living in a refugee camp clothes to keep them warm through winter, help buy nutritious food for their entire family, or set up a safe space to give children the chance to be children again.

It could also help the organisation’s work in some of the most deprived communities in Wales supporting families through its programme work.

The charity has urged Welsh AM’s to join in the fun and help raise awareness and money for a good cause by wearing a Christmas Jumper and sharing their pictures on social media on our Twitter page and on our Wales Facebook page using #christmasjumperday.

People can also donate £5 directly to the Save the Children Cymru Christmas Jumper Day fund via text by sending TEAMSTCCYMRU to 70050. Or they can find details on how to donate on christmasjumperday.org.
