Just over 24 hours after the Welsh Government’s ‘Brexit and Our Land’ consultation drew to a close, NFU Cymru president John Davies has told the Union’s annual conference ‘it’s time to seize the opportunity to realise our ambition’.
Speaking to farmers and industry colleagues at the annual NFU Cymru Conference, entitled ‘Ambition for Growth’, Mr Davies said the end of the consultation gave the industry a landmark moment to ‘design, develop and implement a Made in Wales policy for Welsh farming'. He urged Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Planning and Rural Affairs Lesley Griffiths AM to take on board the views of thousands of farmers who want to see food production placed at the heart of future policies.
Speaking at the NFU Cymru ‘Ambition for Growth’ conference, John Davies said: “At NFU Cymru we are committed to help ensure that our industry continues to grow and further improve on the unparalleled contribution that we make to Welsh society economically, environmentally, socially and culturally.
“We ask the Cabinet Secretary to listen to the views of the people who will be most impacted by these proposals.”
