NO-ONE will face a criminal prosecution over a crash on the Brecon Beacons which claimed four lives.

Dyfed Powys Police had arrested seven males, all aged 17 and 18, following the Friday night March 6 crash in which teenagers Rhodri Miller, his girlfriend Alesha O’Connor and their friend Corey Price died as well pensioner Margaret Challis, 66, of Merthyr Tydfil.

This week police confirmed their criminal investigation has concluded after the Crown Prosecution Service said it didn’t believe there is a realistic prospect of anyone being convicted.

The three teenagers, who were all 17 and from Barry in The Vale of Glamorgan, had been travelling in a green Volkswagen Golf with two other friends. It was involved in a collision with a car in which Mrs Challis, who was also known by her maiden name Webber, was a passenger.

Police said in a statement: "Dyfed Powys Police launched an investigation following the fatal road traffic collision on the A470 near Storey Arms on Friday, March 6 which resulted in the tragic death of four people.

"Seven males were arrested in connection with the incident.

"A file of evidence was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) who concluded that there was insufficient evidence to establish a realistic prospect of conviction in respect of the suspects for offences of causing death by dangerous driving or causing death by careless driving.

"The criminal investigation has now concluded and the matter will be referred to HM Coroner.

"The families of all those involved have been advised."

At the time police said the car the teenagers were in was one of a convoy of eight vehicles that travelled from Barry towards Brecon from 8pm that evening.
