LOCAL villagers are campaigning for a change in the speed limits in their rural communities. Residents in Llanhamlach, Nant Ddu, Llanspyddid and Libanus have joined together to make Welsh Government officials aware of what they say are the dangers of living on the A470 and A40 trunk roads. The government is currently conducting a review of trunk road speed limits throughout Wales. Each community has its own issues with regards to the roads however all are united in their request for the speed limit to be reduced from the national speed limit of 60mph to 50mph, and preferably 40mph. Kirsty Williams, Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, has been involved in the campaigns and said residents' views must be considered in the review: "Local people must be heard. Their views need to influence the final decision." The review is due to be released at the end of the year. For more on this story get this week's Brecon & Radnor Express - on sale now
