STAFF and the children at Buttons Nursery have raised £500 for Usk House, the day hospice in Brecon run by St David’s Hospice Care.
The nursery held a summer fete in July, attended by the town mayor, while some of the children and staff carried out two street collections in Brecon town centre during the week leading up to the fete.
Nicky Jones, manager of Buttons, said: “Buttons staff were extremely proud to be supporting their chosen charity, St David’s Hospice Care, which operates 365 days of the year doing an amazing job supporting patients with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers and the bereaved in our local community.
“The nursery would like to thank all the Buttons staff, helpers, children and their families who supported us to make it such a successful day. We would also like to extend our thanks to local businesses who so generously supported our raffle: Brecon Tap, Wellington Hotel, Co-op, Brecon Fish Bar, The Clarence, SMB, Clarks Toy Shop, Wetherspoons, Steve Morgan Butcher, Brynich Play Barn, Nick Griffiths Car Valeting, Brecon Garden Centre, Beacons Laundry, Gail Jones, Glanusk Café and St Mary’s Bakery.”
Sally Morris, fundraiser for the hospice, said: “This is a wonderful sum to have raised, and the hospice is extremely grateful to the nursery, the parents, and the local businesses who so generously supported the event.”
