A weekend plant sale at a Glasbury church has raised over £700 after an unprecedented amount of green-fingered visitors turned up on the day.
The sale took place at All Saints Church on Saturday, April 30 and saw over 400 plants sold in just a few hours.
The 500 plants being offered for sale in over 100 different types, had all been grown in her garden by Susan Baker, a former space engineer.
By 10am there were already people ready to look over the plants which had been laid out on the grass alongside of the church, and just 15 minutes later the car park was full. This continued for a good hour of almost pandemonium for the church treasurer and warden who were sitting by the church door to take the money.
The event raised over £717 and as 10 per cent had been promised to the Brecon Mountain Rescue Team a cheque for £72 has been sent. The rest of the money will be used to keep the work of the church going.
While most of the customers were local, one lady came all the way from Llanelli.
Just 50 plants remained by the end of the day, but more will be available at both future church events in Glasbury and at the Glasbury Gardens Open Weekend on July 9 and 10.
