Police are appealing for information after a pile of bones was discovered between Upper Chapel and Garth.
The fly-tipped animal remains, which were reported to police at 3pm on Sunday, July 7, were described by the police Rural Crime Team as “very stinky with loads of flies”.
Dyfed-Powys Police has not confirmed what type of animal the bones come from or who may have dumped them.
However following the unusual incident which has been shared by the rural crime team on Twitter, other Twitter users have speculated the bones are cattle bones which may have come from an “illegal abattoir”.
It’s not known how long the bones were at the site, but other Twitter users have reported seeing the bones on Sunday – the exact location has not been revealed.
One Twitter user, who said she didn’t see the animal remains when she drove past on Friday, said: “They were there yesterday (Sunday). I drove past at about 3.45pm and saw them.”
A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "More than one report was received from members of the public. It’s believed the bones were of cattle origin and have been removed by Powys County Council."
Anyone with information about the bones should call Dyfed-Powys Police on 101.
