Police are appealing for information after a woman involved in a serious crash on the A44 on Wednesday died in hospital.

The collision happened at 5:25pm on Wednesday evening on the A44 near the village of Walton in Powys.

The two vehicles involved were a Citroen C5 driven by an 80-year-old man from the Stratford-Upon-Avon area, and an X type Jaguar driven by an 81-year-old man from Llandrindod Wells. Both men were taken to County Hospital in Hereford, with the driver of the Citroen being later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham where his condition is described as critical.

A female front seat passenger in the Jaguar, also sustained serious injuries and was conveyed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where she died on Friday afternoon.

Next of kin and HM Coroner have been informed.

Dyfed Powys Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact the Roads Policing Unit at Brecon on 101.
