POLICE have confirmed they are investigating a robbery in which an elderly man was injured at the Royal Welsh Show.
Shepherd Islwyn Jones, who is 76 and from Sarn, near Newtown, has been named locally as the victim who suffered facial injuries as well as injuries to his arm and back between 11pm and midnight on Tuesday, July 23.
Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Between 11pm and midnight, an elderly man used the toilets of the campsite at Lower North 12, which is near entrance F, located at the far end of the showground near the cattle sheds.
"On leaving the toilets, he reports being punched to the face and having items stolen.
He was found in hedgerow behind the toilets the following day. He sustained minor injuries and is recovering."
The force has said it is continuing to investigate and has reminded those who attended the show, at Llanelwedd, near Builth Wells, the incident was the same night as the large thunderstorm.
It was reported to police on Wednesday, July 24.
