Police have warned businesses to be on the lookout after a rise in the number of fake £20 notes passed in the area.
Any shops being offered a suspicious note are advised to retain it without putting staff at risk, give the customer a receipt and explaining that the note will be handed to the police and explain that suspect notes subsequently discovered to be genuine will be returned.
Anyone receiving a note is asked to call the police and hand them the counterfeit note or take it to a police station.
