Freepost election leaflets from parties and independent candidates standing in the Senedd election have been published online, giving voters the chance to see in more detail what is being promised in their area.

The leaflets are available through the new vote.wales website, which has been launched ahead of the Senedd election on May 7.

The site allows voters to search by postcode or browse by constituency to find both who is standing in their area and what they are standing for. It covers all 16 Senedd constituencies across Wales.

Candidate details were first published on the site on April 10, with the addition of election leaflets now giving voters further information on party policies, priorities and campaign messages.

Vote.wales has been created to provide a central source of information for voters, with the aim of helping to “turn voting confusion into voting confidence”.

It is managed by the Electoral Management Board for Wales, which sits within the Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru.

The website also provides guidance on how to vote, who is eligible to take part, and the role and responsibilities of the Senedd.

Chief executive of the Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru, Shereen Williams MBE OStJ, said the platform marked an important step in improving access to election information.

She said: “This is a really important election, and this is the first election where people can see these leaflets online at vote.wales.

“Vote.wales has all the information you need to turn voting confusion into voting confidence. You can see where to vote, who you can vote for, and now, why parties and candidates think you should vote for them.

“Go to vote.wales and get to know this election. Voting confidence starts here.”

She added that the aim of the platform was to make it easier for people to understand their choices and engage with the democratic process.

Political parties and independent candidates are responsible for submitting their own leaflets to the Electoral Management Board for publication.

Only leaflets that have been formally submitted are published on the site, and the Board does not amend or translate any content. The wording, design and language of each leaflet remains entirely the responsibility of the candidates and their agents.

More leaflets are expected to be added each Thursday in the run-up to polling day.

The 2026 Senedd election will see major changes to the way Wales votes, following reforms to the electoral system. The Senedd will expand from 60 to 96 members and move to a proportional representation system.

Under the new system, voters will elect six Members of the Senedd (MSs) in each of 16 constituencies, with parties putting forward lists of candidates.

Voting for the 2026 Senedd elections will be held on Thursday, May 7.

Polling stations will open at 7am and close at 10pm. The votes will then be counted during the day on Friday, May 8.

The election will be held on the same day as local elections in England and the Scottish Parliament election.
