The leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats has called on Welsh Conservative MPs and Senned Members to take action following the release of the “hugely disappointing” Sue Gray report.

Jane Dodds, who is also an MS for mid Wales, described the update as “watered down” before saying that she feels its time for Boris Johnson to leave office “before he does our country any more harm.

Ms Dodd’s statement was in response to Sue Gray’s update which was made public lat Monday, January 31, however items were redacted as a result of the ongoing Metreopolitan Police investigation into Number 10 Downing Street parties.

It is understood that experienced civil servant Sue Gray handed a dossier containing 300 photos and more than 500 pages to the Met Police in relation to the parties.

Ms Dodds said: “This watered-down update is hugely disappointing. Everyone knows Boris Johnson broke the rules and then lied to the country.

“It’s time Welsh Conservative Members of Parliament stood by their duty to their constituents and stood up for decency by sacking Boris Johnson. He must go before he does our country any more harm. Welsh Members of the Senedd should also call for Johnson to resign.

“Many of the Welsh Conservative MPs and MSs stated they will wait to see what is in Sue Gray’s report, now it is here, albeit, in redacted form, it is time for them to take action.

“The Prime Minister cannot continue to lead with any creditability amongst the population should he decide to struggle on.”

Despite redactions, Ms Gray’s initial findings from the inquiry into what has been dubbed by the national press as “partygate” pointed to “failues of leadership and judgement” as well as excessive drinking at work despite the ongoing pandemic - Ms Gray described it as “difficult to justify”.

Me Gray further said that of 16 events which fell within her investigation’s remit, the Met Police were now investigating 12 of them.

Boris Johnson has apologised in the wake of the ipublication of the 12-page redacted investigation, for the things Number 10 “did not get right” as well as for how the “matter has been handled”.
