A Powys town has been named as one of the best places to live in Britain.
That’s according to the Sunday TImes which has named 10 locations in Wales in its annual Best Places to Live in Britain guide.
Presteigne, in Radnorshire, is the only place in Powys to make the list which uses what the newspaper describes as "robust statistics" and what it calls the knowledge of its expert panels.
The paper says: "The judges combine the hard data with their own on-the-ground experience and insight to ensure the chosen locations truly are places where everyone can thrive."
Presteigne, which is on the border, has for 30 years hosted a festival of music and arts every August while the Sheep Music festival also promotes arts events, from music, dance, film and even fireworks while the town is also a host for the Borderlines film festival.
The Judge’s Lodging, a restored Victorian court house, is an interactive museum and is one of the town’s most popular attractions and is often recognised in awards for British museums.
The Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide, which is published on Sunday, March 18, says starter homes in Presteigne can be bought from £203,480, the town’s mid-market price is 254,230 to £382,990 for a family home.
Rents range from £380 a month to £1,110 according to the paper.
Mumbles in Swansea was named the best place to live.
In previous years Brecon and Crickhowell have been included in the last as was Hay-on-Wye last year.
Only Abersoch, Monmouth and Penarth, made it onto the list again this year from last year's Welsh entrants.
