POWYS County Council has written to all of its school bus operators after a a primary school pupil was left on her own at a bus stop. The eight-year-old girl was allowed to get off her school bus in Trecastle even though there was no-one to meet her on the return journey home from Sennybridge Primary School. Her parents, Alan Meek and Claire Summers, have now received an apology from Powys County Council. The couple said they had been delayed when going to meet their daughter in June. They said they would have expected the bus to have waited for them to arrive. Following an investigation the council upheld a complaint from the couple. The authority said it has now spoken to the bus company involved and also reminded all its school bus operators that unaccompanied young children should never be allowed off a school bus. Instead they should be kept on board and their parents notified, in line with the council's agreed procedure. Mr Meek and Ms Summers are involved in a long running dispute with Sennybridge County Primary School. For the full story see this week's Brecon & Radnor Express - on sale now
