Hygiene inspectors found “mouldy and out of date” food at a country pub near Brecon during three consecutive inspections.
Jenny-Lee Williams, of the Pwllgloyw Arms, admitted two charges at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court, Powys council said.
She admitted placing food on the market which was unfit for human consumption, and failing to have proper food safety paperwork in place.
She was fined £665 for each offence, a £66 surcharge and full costs were awarded to Powys council, with total costs of £3,337.58.
Powys council said magistrates were shown photographic evidence and heard from Rob Brown, the county council’s solicitor, that an environmental health officer found mouldy, putrid and out of date food at the public house on three consecutive inspections.
Colonel Tim Van-Rees, defending, explained to the court the defendant’s mitigating circumstances and that her current income at the premises was zero.
The chair of the bench said “these offences are very serious” and went on to explain that the magistrates had estimated the defendant’s income as £400 per week and taken into account her early plea.
