Residents of Peterchurch and the Golden Valley are celebrating the news that a community hub has secured a substantial funding grant.

The Hub at St Peter’s community project has secured just over £300,000 from the Nation Lottery Community fund, which has been earmarked for a number of a plans which will support the community.

The grant, which will be spent over the course of the next three years, will cover costs such as the project coorindator’s salary, the salary for a chef manager for their community cafe and their planned youth work. It also contains a proportion of monies for the redevelopment of The Hub’s kitchen and cafe counter.

The new grant will help The Hub’s staff and volunteers expand further into the Golden Valley, supporting residents by providing:

• a much-needed community outreach support via its Community Helpline

• a welcoming space where local people can enjoy eating, drinking and talking together in the The Hub Cafe

• a local library and various outreach services based within the building

• a variety of exhibitions, workshops and events for the local community

• volunteering and employment opportunities for local people

The team of staff and volunteers at The Hub would like to thank National Lottery players for the difference they make to communities such as theirs.
