Countryside enthusiasts across Powys are being urged to help safeguard the county’s network of public paths and greenspaces.
Powys County Council has opened applications for new members of the Powys Local Access Forum (LAF), which advises the council on managing public rights of way and outdoor access. The 2026–2029 term is now accepting expressions of interest, with a deadline of Friday, April 3.
The forum works closely with the council’s Countryside Access and Recreation team, providing local insight to help shape priorities for the 9,250km path network that spans the county.
For those who prefer hands-on work, the council also runs a volunteer programme, offering opportunities from repairing bridges and installing gates to caring for local greenspaces. Roles range from physically active tasks to positions focused on supervision, coordination, or community engagement.
Anyone interested in joining the forum, volunteering, or learning more about the reporting tool can contact the Countryside Access and Recreation team at [email protected] or call 01597 827595.
